SUMMARY:The Blues Project Headlines the 18th Blue Wing Blues Festival
DESCRIPTION:This is the final night of the 18th annual Labor Day weekend Blue Wing Blues Festival held at sunset in the garden between the Tallman Hotel and Blue Wing Restaurant in Upper Lake.  Beginning at 6:15 each evening\, guests are treated to two outstanding blues bands plus a delicious barbeque dinner\, all for a price of $75 + tax per person. \n\n\n\nTICKETS can be purchased by calling the Hotel at (707) 275-2244 ext. 0 or online at EVENTBRITE.COM.\n\nThis evening\, Cathy Lemon and the Lucky Losers Band open the old pros of the genre\, the Blues Project.\n\nBased in San Francisco and touring nationally\, the Lucky Losers are a throwback to the hybrid of soul\, blues\, rock\, gospel\, and country that emerged in the late 1960's.  The vibrant\, Dallas-born blues vocalist Cathy Lemons fronts the band along with virtuoso blues harp master Phil Berkowitz.  Completing the band tonight will be Simon Govan on guitar\, Chris Burns on keys and Jon Otis on drums.\n\nPercussionist Roy Blumenfeld was a member of the original Blues Project\, which recorded it's first album Live at the Caf  Au Go Go in Greenwich Village in 1966.  The band toured nationally including a memorable appearance at Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium later that year.  The original band has held reunions over the years\, but\, in addition to Blumenfeld\, it is now composed of veterans David Aguilar and Mark Newman on guitar\, Ken Clark on keys and Tim Eschliman on bass.  This is a band with a long history\, lot's of energy and a new album called Evolution.
