Look, learn, and create together during fun, interactive programs for kids of all ages and their parents/caregivers. Join us for our final summer Family Fun Friday in which we offer free activities for families at the Courthouse Museum site in Lakeport. These programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Lake County Museum to benefit our local community. The Friends of the Lake County Museum helps pay for busing for school tours for students, and additional programming at the Courthouse Museum. Join us August 9th from 10:30-12:30 for drop-in participation to learn about the science of borax. One of the first sources of commercial borax was our very own Borax Lake. Learn about this mineral with two hands-on science projects as we make borax slime and a bouncy ball. Take home a borax crystal and learn how to grow your own. The museum will also be open at this time for all visitors, with staff available to answer any questions you have about Lake County history.
