Anderson Marsh State Historic Park continues to hold monthly guided nature walks. The next walk is scheduled for Saturday morning, June 10th at 8:30am. Come join us! Meet in the parking lot at 8:15am to have time to experience the early morning wildlife to be found in the Ranch House and Barn complex yard. The walk begins at 8:30am. Join California Naturalist & Park Docent Billy Gear as he leads a leisurely walk to discover what the recent rains have brought to the Park. This should be a great opportunity to see dragon flies, late spring flowers and other flowering plants. Bring your binoculars. This time of the year brings many migrating birds to the Park, some to rest in the waters of Cache Creek and Anderson Marsh or in the nearby trees. The 2½ to 3 mile guided walk will begin and end at the parking lot. Depending whether the ground is dry enough, the walk will start on the Cache Creek trail, continue on the Marsh trail, past the acorn woodpecker granary tree and finally head back to the parking lot, passing the vernal pool via the Ridge trail. There will not be a Ranch House tour after the walk. Rain will cancel the event. There is no charge and parking is free for those attending. Anderson Marsh State Historic Park is located on Hwy 53, between Lower Lake and Clearlake. For more information about the nature walk, email info@andersonmarsh.org or call (707) 995-2658.
