Anderson Marsh State Historic Park will hold its next free monthly guided Nature Walk starting at 8:30am on Saturday, February 9th, 2019. There will be a tour of the Historic Ranch House after the February walk. Rain will cancel the walk. If rain cancels the walk, the tour will begin at 8:30am. February’s Nature Walk will be led by Park volunteer and local birder Brad Barnwell. The hike will last about two hours. He plans to hike the Cache Creek and Ridge trails. The actual route taken will depend on the weather and the condition of the trails. Brad will be looking for the year-round resident birds and animals, as well as the Great Blue Herons, Red-tailed Hawks and other birds which should be returning to their traditional nesting sites. Participants should bring binoculars if they have them, bring water and wear sturdy shoes and a hat. Participants are asked to arrive at the parking lot by 8:15am so they can have time to explore the wildlife found in the ranch house yard. Winter is a great time to visit the Park because the trees are bare, allowing a better view of the birds. Anderson Marsh State Historic Park is located on Hwy 53, between Lower Lake and Clearlake.
