Mendocino College Lake Center
A free literary reading by author Jean Hegland will be presented on Sunday, April 10, by the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College and the Friends of the Mendocino College Library, affiliates of the Mendocino College Foundation, Inc. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Room 7050 of the Lake Center at 2565 Parallel Drive in Lakeport.
Hegland's first novel, Into the Forest, has been translated into twelve languages and taught in many community- and campus-wide reading programs. A film adaptation starring Ellen Page and Even Rachel Wood is being released this spring. Her other books include the novel, Windfalls; a nonfiction book, The Life Within: Celebration of a Pregnancy; and her latest novel, Still Time.
She is a frequent presenter at writing workshops and conferences. In addition to teaching at Santa Rosa Junior College, Hegland has taught overseas in Sicily, England, and Germany.
The two affiliates jointly present a literary program during the spring and fall semesters at the Lake Center, most recently collaborating with the Lake County Library to open the book discussions around To Kill A Mockingbird in the Lake County Big Read last October.
