Scrooged and Die Hard films

The GenX Cinema series presents a holiday double feature on Friday, December 22, at 7:00 pm, at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport. First up is “Scrooged,” made in 1988 and starring Bill Murray, followed by “Die Hard,” also made in 1988 and starring Bruce Willis. Entry is by donation. “Scrooged” is a darkly comic contemporization of Charles Dickens’ famous story. A meaningful “Christmas Carol” this is not, but a perfectly entertaining yuletide comedy this certainly is. “Die Hard” is as high tech, rock hard and souped up as a 1980s action film can be. There are good performances from everyone in this often funny, very violent, but exciting melodrama. “Scrooged” is rated PG13 with run time of 1 hour 40 minutes. “Die Hard” is rated R with run time of 1 hour and 54 minutes.
