The Big Bang Band Traveling Star Show

On Saturday, March 30th FOTO offers an exceptionally interesting program at Taylor's Window to the Universe when Angelo Parisi and Terry England team up for an encore performance of their renowned "Big Bang Band Travelling Star Show." This musical astronomy group received the prestigious Los Cumbres Award from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific in 2004 as an especially notable astronomy-education activity of The Ferguson Obseratory, our sister observatory at the Sugar Loaf State Park in Sonoma County. Angelo is a founding member of the Ferguson and has recently joined the Taylor Observatory-Norton Planetarium team after moving back to Middletown. The performance will be especially delightful and informative for Lake County K-12 students, who, as always, are admitted free to Friends of Taylor Observatory Window to the Universe events, thanks to a generous grant from Lake County resident Charles Nieman. Window to the Universe starts at 7:30 PM with Angelo and Terry's musical performance, followed by a planetarium show and description of the March/April night sky by FOTO Board member and Taylor docent Eduardo Alatorre. The Saturday forecast is favorable for astronomy, a situation that has mostly eluded us this year; Under clear skies you will be treated to exemplary views of the night sky through the various Taylor Telescopes. The 18" Teeter Dobsonian will be in use for observation of Messier objects and other deep sky delights. The moon accomodates us by staying below the horizon until 5 AM. Dress warmly for observations from the Nieman Star Deck.
