Washington and Massanari in Tallman Concert with Conversation

Join us for the third of our 2017/8 series of informal Concerts with Conversation in the Riffe’s Meeting House next to the Tallman Hotel. We’re delighted to feature today one of the nation’s leading jazz vocalists, Kenny Washington. Recently dubbed “the Superman of the Bay Area jazz scene” by the San Francisco Chronicle, Kenny Washington is a jazz virtuoso who thrills audiences with his soulful interpretations, seemingly limitless range, and rapid-fire scatting. Ravi Coltrane has declared Kenny his favorite male vocalist, and Mark Murphy said in a Jazz Times interview that Kenny was the only contemporary male vocalist carrying on the tradition. Backing Kenny will be the exceptional guitarist Jeff Massanari. Jeff wears many stylistic hats including straight-ahead jazz, fusion, blues, rock and even has some serious country chops. He is at home playing complex jazz solo guitar arrangements as well as tearing up a plate full of blues on his Strat! He is often called on to accompany visiting artists such as Seth MacFarlane, Mark Inouye and the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Hall.
