Description
The highlight of the musical year at the Blue Wing Restaurant is our Labor Day weekend BLUE WING BLUES FESTIVAL with patrons comfortably seated in the garden between the restaurant and hotel under the shade of the sycamores. Two great bands play each evening on the hotel veranda. During the first set, beginning around 6:15, ticket holders are served a delicious barbeque dinner, with the headline performance beginning around 7:30. Many local companies and individuals help to sponsor the event.
Tickets at $75 + tax per person can be obtained at EVENTBRITE.COM or by calling the Tallman Hotel at (707) 275-2244 ext. 0.
On this the final night of the Festival, the great blues guitarist AJ Crawdaddy will open for the dynamic Daniel Castro and his band
Here are some additional details on the performers.
Blues guitarist Angelo J. Rossi, aka “AJ Crawdaddy,” has been a fixture on the Bay Area music scene for many years. He’s most well-known for his work with the popular Marin based pop group, Pablo Cruise, but he’s worked with numerous groups in the area and around the country. He is a BMI published writer and voting member of N.A.R.A.S. (Grammy). With his third solo album, “Steppin’ Out,” AJ continues his exploration of the blues genre. His live performances are authentic, energetic – and lots of fun.
Born in Ensenada and raised in the LA area, Daniel Castro had the blues in his blood from an early age, hanging around Huntington Beach clubs to hear the likes of Albert King, BB King and Albert Collins. Moving to San Jose in 1995, the hard-driving bluesman has been a hit throughout the area, including previous appearances at the Blue Wing Blues Festival. Daniel is the driving force behind the band, which consists of Tony Lufrano on keys, Glade Rasmussen on bass Donnie Green on percussion with vocalist Julie Castro.
