Description
LAKE COUNTY HOME WINE AND BEER MAKERS
AND CAMP'N SHINE CAR CLUB FESTIVAL
On Saturday, June 18, 2016
The 15th Annual Home Wine and Beer Makers Festival will take place at Lakeport's Library Park. This year, for the first time, the event will also feature exhibits from the Lakeport Camp'N Shine Club's three-dozen plus collection of vintage Volkswagens and other air-cooled vehicles.
The Festival is sponsored as its major fund-raiser by the Lake County Symphony Association, with all proceeds going to support our fine Symphony and Youth Orchestras but also teaching, scholarships and other local music activities. Along with wines and beers produced by skilled and enthusiastic amateurs, many of the county's premium commercial wineries and brewers lend a hand, pouring samples for attendees.
Arts and crafts vendors are also featured, along with silent auctions and raffles, food and music. The vintage cars will be on exhibit from 8:00 am, while wine and beer tasting is from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The latter applies only to adults who purchase a ticket, while all other aspects of the event are free and open to the public.
Home winemakers wishing to participate may call (707) 569-6880 or email matmoor1741@hotmail.com. There is no charge, but if wines are submitted for professional judging there is a modest fee. Wines may be reds, whites, blends, desserts or aperitifs. Arts and Crafts vendors may also contact the same numbers.
Home brewers can call (707) 279-1280 or email jshoe@mac.com. A popular feature of the event is the Peoples’ Choice ribbons, awarded by votes of attendees. There will also be a major Silent Auction as well as the “Barrel of Wine” raffle.
The Camp n’ Shine cars will be on display from 8 am until closing, while wine tasting takes place from one to five pm. The event is open to the public, and families and pets on leashes are welcome. There is no fee to inspect the cars or visit the displays although adults much purchase tickets for tasting the beverages. These are $25 at the gate, or $20 advance purchase, and includes a commemorative wine glass.
A list of advance purchase outlets will be published in advance.
