OBSERVATORY OPENS 6:30-7:30 Get help for your telescope and chat with astronomers. 7:30-8:00 Short talks by Tom Schleif: Building a Steam Punk Telescope and Bill Haddon: Should Lake Co. Become an Official Dark Sky Community? 8:00-11:00 PLANETARIUM SHOWS, TELESCOPE VIEWS Astronomy fans are invited to visit Taylor for an evening of planetarium shows and telescope viewing plus an opportunity to consult Taylor staff about their own telescope, working or not, or plans to purchase a telescope. If you have a telescope hiding in a closet or the garage, bring it on Saturday. The evening features two short talks. Learn how Tom Schleif is assembling his own “Steampunk” telescope from spare parts by using his own considerable wood working talent. Then Taylor President Bill Haddon will present some first thoughts about establishing a local Lake County official Dark Sky Community, just the third one in all of Northern California.
Admission: $5.00 for adults, members and students no charge.
