The 1940 drama, “The Grapes of Wrath,” starring Henry Fonda, Jane Darwell and John Carradine, screens at the Soper Reese Theatre on Tuesday, November 14, at 1:00 and 6:00 pm. Entry to the film is by donation. Adapted from John Steinbeck's novel and directed by John Ford, this film documents the arduous journey of a poor Oklahoma farming family fleeing to the promised land of California during the Great Depression. A potent drama that is as socially important today as when it was made, “The Grapes of Wrath” is affecting, moving and considered to be one of the greatest American films of all time. It received seven Academy Award nominations. The movie is sponsored by the Joshua Miles Hanson Scholarship Fund. Rated G with run time of 2 hours 9 minutes.
